Awesome pizza, and the wait staff is very friendly. We got 3/4 of a large pizza as a build your own, and the remaining 1/4 as one of their "celebrity pizzas." The boardwalk is very lively this time of year, so seating is sparse, it's so good you won't be eating for long! It'll be gone and you'll be out the door and enjoy the beach some more!

  • Mary P.

We got the Frank Sinatra and it was amazing. The breadsticks were ok and the dipping marinara was the consistency of salsa. We would come back for the pizza.

Best pizza in the panhandle???? Nope. not even close. Here's how to get a two-star review: one: someone tells you this is the best pizza in the area. and so with high expectations and rumbly tummies you and your family go early on Friday night, to beat the dinner rush. No rush. two: kind of funky, beachy ambiance and limited seating. On the beach, that's probably not a problem in summer, but who eats pizza in summer? three: the pizza is pretty authentic NY style thin crust, a tad on the greasy side and nothing really spectacular and nobody at my pizza table raves. This isn't brick oven after all. And it's a bit on the expensive side for what you get. Four: Boring and tiny menu: So there's just about nothing on the menu for those of us NOT eating pizza. Left with few choices, I ordered a la carte meatballs which as an Italian, they looked like the small frozen ones you buy at the store. (smaller than a ping-pong ball). Neither of them were warm enough either. **gack**I was not happy to pay $3.50 for a couple ounces of meat. The sauce however, was delicious. With no side salad option to fill out my sparse plate and even emptier stomach, I left just about as hungry as I was when I went in. *sniff*

Pros: - you can get ONE slice of pizza and have it customized - neat location on the Quietwater Beach Boardwalk opposite Pensacola Beach - friendly service Cons: - that solitary slice of pizza will cost you - this boardwalk is so popular that it can be crowded and parking, which is free, can be a hassle Neutral: - the pizza itself was just ok Verdict: - three stars

Pizza was great! Girl with the green hair was patronizing and seemed put off that we came in 45 mins before closing time. She cleaned up some of the beverage dispensers before closing and when my pregnant wife asked for a cup of water, she was told that it might taste like bleach since it had just been cleaned. HUH?!??! We passed on the bleach water. Pizza was really good though! I'd go back.

The original Papas on Pensacola Beach! My kids beg to go here every week! We usually get takeout in the summer when the beach is crowded. Huge NY style pizza! Even the plain cheese pizza is good! My wife prefers the Stromboli. Perfect for the kiddos!

  • Cindy B.

Best pizza on the beach, hands down. The crust is perfect, crisp but not too thin, toppings generous. Their specialty pizzas rock. Try a half Frank Sinatra and half Joe Pesci, (sub fresh tomatoes for the sundried) to please both the meat and veg lovers. Can get very busy esp. on weekends, so call ahead, and take out.

Staying at the days inn beach front and wanted some nearby pizza. Pensacola isn't over run by pizza shops, so seeing one this nearby to the hotel was great! Ordered a large pepperoni pizza, because I don't ever live food adventurously. Wasn't very busy today and the food came out right away. Tasted great!! Highly recommended.

Excellent flavor and texture. Will definitely come back. I don't know when, but I will come back.

This place def has the best pizza. Very NY style, thin crust, and delicious. We got a greek salad which was yummy and a pepperoni and mushroom pizza which left me wanting more. You can order by the pizza or the slice. There is limited seating inside but i think you can sit outside as well. You can def order delivery or to go too. Loved this place, it def it my pizza taste buds.

We waited FOREVER for our pizza to get here, but it was Saturday and crowded. A bit pricey, but it's on the boardwalk. If you want pizza near the beach, choose this place.

On our last night in Pensacola Beach, we just wanted a pizza to have with a bottle of wine at the hotel, while watching the Sunday night game. We called in an order and I made the short trip to pick it up. We always order Italian sausage and green olive (or Kalamata). We like the vinegar and salt that the olives bring. We also always ask for the cheese to be browned. That is baked and not just melted. The pizza was acceptable and it is something we would do again. It is billed as New York Style. The crust is thin-ish, but not cracker thin. It was a little soft, but not soggy and was nicely chewy. The outer rim is fairly large, but edible like a soft bread stick. The cheese was good rubbery mozzarella and was reasonably browned. The green olives were plentiful but did not make the pizza too salty. The sausage was mediocre. We had to debate whether it was Italian. At times we thought we could taste sage, which is a no-no. Fennel flavor was minimal. The sausage is applied in marble sized pellets. With better sausage this could be bumping into four star range.

I'm so damn picky about my pizza having grown up in the tri-state (NJ/NY/PA) area. I Yelped what was in the area and this place came up. My brother and I split one large pizza with sausage and shrooms (hey, we were hungry and I just got off an overnight flight from Seattle). We. Ate. Every. Crumb.

  • Ling W.

I had eaten here a few years ago and enjoyed it, so I decided to stop back when I was in the area. I had ordered a large pizza that was upgraded for $2 to an x-large. I had asked for mushroom and extra cheese. When I got the pizza, it was just under $23. I gave the girl $25 and she just looked at me, "Is there anything else?" Yeah, there's something else, my change! I would have demanded it back had I not decided earlier I would just leave it as a tip. As I walked out with my box, I noticed it was barely warm on the bottom. There was just a normal amount of cheese, actually very little. I'm unsure if they added extra cheese or just charged me for it. The crust is thinner but not true NY style, it's a little too thick, soft, and chewy. It tasted good but I agree with most reviewers here, it's okay and somewhat pricey for what you get. I think their slogan is something about being the best pizza on the panhandle, but honestly, La Famiglia on NAS and Paisaino's on the west side rival this pizza any day.

Great food; had the calzone; very fresh- made to order. Dough very good. Marinara a bit too thin my only disappointment. As well as that they didn't offer chicken as a gourmet topping.

Visited again on Saturday night it was really packed but still great food great service and again very pleased!!! Bravo to the staff for handling all the weekend craziness!!

Awesome pizza - only bud lite for beer selection but the pizza makes up for that. Great, friendly & fast service!

    (4)
  • Janice T.

The pizza was great, crust was perfect, toppings were delicious. Great. Breadsticks left something to be desired ours were defiantly overdone. The only reason I didn't give 4 stars was for our waitress. Her long blonde hair was only partially tied back and she kept having to tuck it behind her ear without washing her hands. I also saw her eat some toppings on the kitchen, lick her fingers then grab a clean pizza pan for someone's order, again without washing her hands. Eww! She also complained about how tired she was from her other job and told us we really needed to try the pizza at another restaurant because it had unique toppings and this place only has traditional Italian pizza.

  • Ryan K.

Was starving when I got into town so I took a walk from the hotel and found this dpot. The cashier was nice. The price was high and the pizza looked like it had been sitting out for a while and the crust was hard and dried out? Best pizza on the beach? I wouldn't go that far.

    (2)
  • Chris H.

VERY good pizza! Cheap too! We were starving and desperately trying to find a place to eat and this is the first place that came up. I would highly recommend stopping here if you're in Pensacola.

    (5)
  • Greg P.

I live on Pensacola beach, pizza is good, but the price for a very small slice is not reasonable, come on guys pizza is not expensive to make give us a real slice, because of the child portion, I would not recommend for 4 dollars!!

    (2)
  • Daniel B. O.

Pizza was average and a bit overpriced mainly due to its touristic location. Customer service was good, gave the impression this is a local mom and pop shop.

Best NY style pizza I've had in a Lon long time. Crust is perfect. Location can be crowded depending on the day. Courteous service. Love love love the pizza.

  • Tina T.

I had this place twice, once while on the boardwalk to enjoy a slice and the second, we ordered an extra large, extra cheese (8 slices) to bring back to our beach rental. The slice of cheese was $3, and the extra large, extra cheese was $17 and change. The slice was delicious and I loved the bite to the crust. The whole pizza was a little soggy but that was probably our fault in not picking it up right away. The cheese and sauce were good and slices large. I would eat there again but I wish they did delivery...

  • Mark P.

Tried to pawn off some old slices, pizza is cheap, throw that away and make a new, presentable one. Just bad business. Seemed to be run by kids. Now I know it is in a busy area, but you have to come up with a better ordering and notification process. I watched other people almost snap because they waited so long and their stuff was ready for a while. It was expensive for pizza, was too small inside, and tried to say they were NY style....definitly not!

  • Stormy R.

I wanted to like this place, I really did. It's a small little pizza joint with a mural painted on the wall and a friendly staff. However, my pizza just wasn't all that great. I ordered 2 slices of pepperoni. The toppings were delicious and not too thick, but the crust was just meh. It almost had a slightly burnt taste to it. My fiance had a calzone and said it was just ok as well. If in Pensacola again and craving pizza I'm not sure I'd drop by again. I'd just as soon save money and order from a chain pizza restaurant instead.

    (3)
  • Mike C.

I love the pizza! Nice and crispy crust! Fresh stuff! Cold azzz beer ( keep the cool glass and bring it back for a discounted re-fill). Pizza by the slice is the way to go... The whole pizza's are not as crispy...perfect spot for a cool board walk lunch everyday!

    (5)
  • Audie J.

Good option for a quick meal, on the go, or after you've done the other board walk options. Great flavor and well priced.

    (3)
  • Will W.

For "best on the panhandle" they had a lot to live up to. We were kind of let down. The pizza was a little greasy and looked blah. The calzone had spinach in it which is strange spend tasted funky. The breadsticks were good, but the marina sauce was practically water. Pretty bummed to spend 30$ on sub-par dinner.

    (3)
  • Andrew G.

Well after we left the Florida Pizza Kitchen without eating we went back to the Hilton and ordered a pie from Papa's. The Hilton recommended this place to us. It must be the only place in the area. The pizza was marginal at best and it was $19 for a large with sausage. What? Oh, I guess its a tourist area so they can charge what they want, but it was not even as good as a Di Giorno's frozen pie. I guess Pensacola is not a pizza haven.

    (2)
  • Stan M.

I ate here twice and I liked it even though it is overpriced. To me it is very close to NY style pizza in the whole Pensacola area. I always had pizza pies and not individual slices. Individual slices are not always fresh where the pies are.

    (4)
  • Jamie N.

Great pizza, reasonable prices, and a beer mug to keep. I would definitely go back and would not hesitate to recommend the food.

    (4)
  • Tiff C.

...so when you're drunk everything greasy tastes good, so the first time we had this pizza I thought it was ok... the second time I had it I was totally sober and not impressed at all with it. The large was a very generous size, I have just had better. The perks of this place is that if you buy a souvinier beer glass for $4.. you get to use it anytime you come back for only $1 refills.. AS MUCH AS U WANT. That in itself gets 5 stars.. I recommend this joint to anyone who is a little wasted, for sober people I would skip it.

    (2)
  • Brooke M.

Errrrrr what the hell happened here? Best Pizza in Pensacola my ass! I had WAY better, shoot Pizza Hut and Papa John's could crush this! Very sub par pizza and over priced. No body was there but me and my mom and we got one slice each and it took 20mins for our food?? The only reason I gave it an extra star is because the waitress was very sweet.

    (2)
  • Tiffany W.

Decent place to sit down and eat on the boardwalk. Got the breadsticks and Stromboli. Breadsticks are crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The Stromboli was awesome. The perfect combination if cheese, pepperoni, olives and sausage. A little in the dry side but they do give you mariana sauce to dip it on.

    (3)
  • James L.

A decent slice when on the beach, consistency is an issue. I wouldn't drive out of my way, but it is NY style.

    (3)
  • Andrew S.

I want to eat here, or order from here at least once a week. But then I remember what a total ripoff the pricing is. Literally the only thing it has going for it is that there is no other pizza joint in the immediate area that sells a thin slice. Too bad that slice cost more than a sbarro slice in the atlanta airport, and is smaller than a new York slice. It's just so frustrating to me that local restauranteurs don't offer an off season locals price about 30% lower. On a positive note, I would be a frequent customer otherwise, pretty tasty.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
